Job Description:
This position requires that the incumbent be highly skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.) and be able to rapidly learn new software applications.

High level of proficiency in all aspects of fiduciary taxation, including income taxation of trusts, estates, and their beneficiaries, income taxzation of individuals, estate, gift, and generation-skippping transfer taxation. Good oral and written communication skills. Proven organizational and leadership skills.

The Sets up and maintains all necessary records and information pertinent to the taxes on investment, trust accounts and decedents' estates. Reviews all assigned account transactions to systematically build an accurate fiduciary income tax return.

Analyzes tax planning options available to estates and trusts, computes and compares the income, estate, gift and/or generation-skipping transfer tax consequences thereof, and advises the trust or estate administrators and the beneficiaries of the best course of action.

The Trust Tax Accountant:

  • Reviews trust agreements, prepares and files fiduciary returns, and represents the Bank in audits before the taxing authorities. Prepares and files all necessary forms and reports for the probate court having jurisdiction over a decedent's estate and for federal and state tax authorities, including federal estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax returns.

  • Maintains an awareness of all relevant tax rules. Performs related duties as required, including preparing various internal reports and answering a variety of questions concerning tax liability, deductions, and related issues.

    Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree, accounting major preferred, or equivalent training and/or work experience.

    Professional certification, (CPA, EA, or Master's degree in taxation preferred). Three to five years experience in preparing personal and fiduciary income tax returns.
